Major technical calculations had to be carried out to construct the complex apex of the building. All framework conditions had to be considered – from wind and weather to the safety of the workers on the scaffolding and passers-by.
The ACS Self-Climbing System was used for the first time in Denmark for the Lighthouse 2.0, having already proven its worth in numerous construction projects worldwide.
The rail-guided climbing formwork scored points with its hydraulic drive, large climbing units, high lifting force and rapid processes, which meant that a concreting cycle of just one week per storey could be achieved.

Covering the size of 24 football pitches, 17 m high and storage capacity for 13.2 million barrels of oil: at South Africa's Saldanha Bay, a huge crude oil storage facility with twelve 110 m x 110 m tanks was realised.
Instead of a conventional slab formwork solution, the engineers designed a construction variant borrowed from bridge building using formwork carriages. Thereby, the table-like slab formwork was supported by a VARIOKIT framework construction.
The high load-bearing capacity of the VARIOKIT system provided the required support for the concrete slab until it had hardened. With only 7 formwork carriage units per tank, each casting segment crane-independently realised 880 m² of slab area per storage tank in regular 5-day cycles.

(Photo: seanpollock.com)
From the onset, the idea was to use DUO panels for horizontal and vertical applications to form slabs, columns and walls. The lightweight panels, the largest weighing no more than 25 kg, were ideal for the project due to its location and confined site space.

For the M-8 road bridge, PERI engineers planned a project-specific shoring and formwork solution. The heavy-duty scaffold construction, consisting of VRB Heavy-Duty Truss Girders and VST Heavy-Duty Towers, safely transferred the high loads via long spans into the ground.

Over the years, PERI engineers have continually expanded the application areas of this innovation. This is why the PERI MAXIMO can be found on countless construction sites in Germany and around the world.

The future highest high-rise building in Europe is currently being realized in Saint Petersburg: the headquarters of the energy company Gazprom will reach a total height of 462 m. Spectacular multi-functional buildings, an amphitheater and spacious parks complement the complex.
In particular, the spectacular location directly on the Finnish Jade Bight brought with it some special challenges. The foundations were complex not only because of the building´s height and high wind loads but also because of the existing ground conditions.
For the spiral-shaped core of the high-rise structure, PERI planned and delivered an efficient formwork solution based on the ACS Self-Climbing System. Crane and weather-independent work operations accelerated the construction progress.

The realization of starter units which form the foundation for the tunnel-in-tunnel. This area is formed with custom steel formwork. The two support areas – one for the rising wall, another for the prefabricated panel which is mounted at the end of all reinforced concrete work and subsequently forms the bottom carriageway slab – are clearly visible.
The rising walls are concreted directly on the starting units which in turn form the support for the upper roadway. Two MAXIMO Formwork sets ensure fast, efficient concreting of the 4.50 m high walls.
The slab was subsequently concreted by means of a total of six formwork carriages – constructed using the back-step construction method.
