  • Construction of the Calgary Cancer Centre, a state-of-the-art cancer treatment and research centre in Calgary, Canada
  • In terms of the volume of material on site, the largest construction project PERI has ever taken on
  • Complex building structure covering a total area of around 185,000 m2 with varying storey heights
  • A total of 18 storeys, 5 of them below ground level and 13 above ground
  • Unusual shape of the building: A child and an adult embracing each other and breathing as one
  • Scheduled for completion in 2023

Requirements

  • An efficient and safe formwork and scaffolding solution in order to realise the complex design of the building
  • Storey heights varying between 4 and 7 m
  • Cantilever from level 4 upwards, which extends from the building by about 9 m
  • Consideration of the restricted assembly space on site

  • The most complex SKYTABLE project structure ever implemented to form the above-ground portion of the building: A total of 247 SKYTABLE slab tables involving 218 different designs
  • Just-in-time delivery of pre-assembled slab tables and subsequent erection using pre-assembled girders
  • VRB solution to create the cantilever: 36 VRB girders with a length of 22 m assembled to form 18 truss girder packages with platform units to enable casting of the slab above
  • The first time that TRIO TRS 120 columns have ever been used. These are used in conjunction with the TRIO TRS 90 columns
  • Construction site support through development of a 3D model and 4D timetable
